quiet lightning: the greenhouse effect

you heard correctly: we’re doing a series of shows at the conservatory of flowers!

aug 1, sept 5 [labor day], and oct 10 [litquake] will all be in the state of california’s first greenhouse

because litquake needs our roster by mid-july, we’re doing a mash-up batch of submissions for our aug + oct shows

IMPORTANT: if you are submitting for august 1, you are automatically ALSO submitting to perform at our litquake show on october 10, AND VICE VERSA.

if you are only available for one of these shows, you must BE CLEAR in your email!

subscriptions

one way you can support us is by subscribing to sPARKLE & bLINK: 1 year (12 issues) comes with admission to the 12 shows for only $100 ($160 face). nothing lasts forever; give us money now!

we made just enough money last night to apply for tax exemption. thank you! that means that soon, we hope, any donation you make to quiet lightning will be tax deductible. now, to the IRS!

we are accepting submissions for our july 4 litnic/reading/firework blowout show, which will be in a private location in north beach (we’ll meet in washington square park). the deadline for art and writing of any kind is wednesday, june 15 and you should send submissions to lightning@evankarp.com.

we are also thrilled to announce that our august 1 show will be held at the conservatory of flowers! actually, this will be our first-ever series: aug, sept (labor day) and oct will all be at the conservatory, with a labor day litnic on the front lawn and the october show a featured litquake event, monday the 10th! stay tuned for more information.

but more than anything you should get excited for june 6! in anticipation, we’ll be featuring a preview video every day in the top left/right corner of our website (see?).

update on nonprofit status

from the office of Debra Bowen, Secretary of the fine State of California: “As a result of budget cuts, the time to process requests has increased significantly.” applications for nonprofit incorporation received by mail on or before Feb 22 11 are currently being processed. we sent our application in on the morning of March 7th, so we should find something out fairly soon. while we await incorporation and tax exemption we’re offering a special, limited time deal: get a year’s admission to quiet lightning – including a copy of Sparkle and Blink sent to your mailbox before each show – for only $100! each book sells for $10 so you save $20 right there AND get in to all the shows for free. if you’re interested and able, send us a line (it would help considerably).
