Kat Marie Yoas is a writer, comedic healer, candle maker and owner of Stevie Wicks Magic Candles, actor, magic sharer, performance and video artist and working class smart ass and sweet heart living in San Francisco. Her essays and stories have been published in anthologies, graphic comics and zines. She’s performed her stories and characters on stages, at colleges, bars, theaters and bookstores across the USA, Europe and the UK with her queer literary families, Sister Spit and the Moon Babes. Kat Marie is artist in residence at The Garage and creates one woman shows and sold out collaborative comedic adventures called “lady comedy” with Ben McCoy. She has had residences with the RADAR Lab in Akumal, Mexico and through AIRSpace. She is currently at work on her first novel about Michigan and the notions of home we battle and embrace, her next one woman show (A Lesbian’s Guide to Self Care) and a collaborative feminist comedic performance series. Kat Marie also is bringing her intuitive candle healing to galleries during the National Queer Arts Festival. Lauren Wheeler-Dubin, Cleo
Lauren is so grateful to have collaborated with her brilliant sister, Katie, and the wonderful and talented cast and crew of Combustion. She wants to give a special shout out to Quiet Lightning for allowing this magic to happen. She graduated from UCLA from the Theatre department and has happily relocated to the Bay Area where she is in the process of getting her Masters in Special Education. She hopes to act in many more projects like this in the future.

Evan Karp is the founder and executive director of Quiet Lightning and the founding editor of Litseen.com. He writes literary columns for the San Francisco Chronicle, SF Weekly, and SF Arts, and is the co-founder and -host of The Emerald Tablet’s Under the Influence series. He bikes long distances on a single speed bike and is an amateur poetry looper.
Diego Mesones was born in Lima, Peru and moved to San Francisco in 2004. Since he was ten years old, Diego has always liked handling a camcorder and has documented every important or interesting event in his life. In the last 3 years, he’s been exploring and applying different techniques in filmmaking — either on his own or in film school at City College of San Francisco. In 2010 he released his first experimental short film, “Some Kind of a Story“, and is currently working on a short documentary called “El Muqui”, and on an experimental short called “Un Poquito de Cafe”. He quotes Orson Welles: “A film is never really good unless the camera is an eye in the head of a poet”.
Camilla Puccini was raised in a Swiss American family in Switzerland where she completed her first segment of institutional education with a degree in Teaching in 2001. The joy of playing in bands from early age, where voice became her dominant creative medium, encouraged her immigration to Oslo, Norway in 2004 to pursue her growing interest in electronic music production and composition. Between 2004 and 2008 she got invited by performance groups, directors and artists to create and mix original sound to their stage work, such as Hotel ProForma, Akt5 (Kim Atle Hansen) and was involved in a variety of events with the state funded Podium Galleri collective as co-curator, conceptual performer, vocalist with the Noise Choir and more. In 2009 and 2010 she exhibited video work for the first time in 3 group shows in collaboration with Berlin based artist Tina Peios and Swiss video artist Renato Mueller and the Swiss public art group Ohm41. In 2009 she relocated to the Bay Area and began in 2013 her education in Cinema Studies at City College of San Francisco, where she is currently enrolled. Her film/video related work includes stage design at the short film “The Passport” by Amund Lie in 2006, currently camera/co-directing the music video “Sheltering Sky” for the band Upside Drown, videographer at the Naming Gallery in Oakland, and directing two student films.
Maren Preston is a painter, printmaker, pun enthusiast, travel addict and High Priestess of the Caffeine Order (barista). She grew up taking bilingual classes in Valley Center, California and after graduating from UC Santa Cruz in 2012 she had an artist-in-residence at Proyecto ‘ACE in Buenos Aires, Argentina. There she built upon her foundation of Spanish knowledge and came closer to her lifelong goal of fluently speaking the language. Much of her work is inspired by found objects, Spanish and English words, and moments that fall between spaces and outside of categories. Her latest project is an art zine called “Los Dos” based upon the six months she spent traveling in Bolivia and Argentina. It is being printed by the Oakland-based print collective Tiny Spendor and will be released later this month. She currently lives in Oakland where she seeks creative collaborations that expand her knowledge of painting into such mediums as film and theater. Her work can be seen online at marenpreston.com.

Raphael Villet spent the last 3 months finding and talking with a diverse cross section of Bay Area residents about what compels people to collect records. He interviewed small and big time record collectors, dj’s, record store owners and bands and made audio recordings of their stories, thoughts and reflections about records. These conversations took places in homes, record stores, flea markets, radio stations, and many other places that records are found and were compiled into a 57 minute audio documentary to be presented at the Oakland Museum of California (opening reception on April 18). Accompanying the audio are 35 photographs taken by the artist of the people featured in this project.
Emma Drew is a museum educator and server living in San Francisco. She graduated from Wesleyan University in 2010, where she studied European philosophy and literature and wrote a graphic novella about the Dust Bowl.
Mac Douglass, 23, is a senior at the University of San Francisco, majoring in English with an emphasis on Creative Writing. He was born and raised in Marin, and attended two different colleges before transferring to USF in the fall of 2012. He has been writing fiction and poetry since his early teens and aspires to frequent high-profile publication, gratuitous royalty checks, and elaborate degrees.
