labor day update

Lots of fun free things to do in the city monday!

Readings start at 7:30, but we’ll have free food from 3ish until it’s gone at the picnic table on the lawn just south of the Dahlia Garden (to the East of the Conservatory, map here**). Then Michael Musika and Con Brio will play—both for free!— along with a donation-based beer garden (seriously, courtesy of Comrades Brewery) in front of the Conservatory, starting at 5pm.

Food we’re bringing (all homemade):

  • hummuses: kalamata olive, sun-dried tomato, red jalapeno
  • almond spinach pesto dip
  • corn chips and pita chips
  • guacamole and salsa
  • rosemary/kalamata loaf
  • fresh-squeezed OJ unless evan drinks it all, which he probably will
  • 2buck chuck (well, we didn’t make this one)

Feel free to bring anything or to just show up and eat, even if you can’t stay for the music and readings.

Parking and Directions
Be green and ride your bike, or take the 5, 6, 7, 21, 33, 44, 71 or N-Judah Muni lines. Parking is available in the Dahlia Garden Circle or along John F. Kennedy Drive—**BUT NOT UNTIL AFTER 6pm—the park is closed to vehicles Monday until 6pm for the holiday. Bike racks are available in the Dahlia Garden Circle, or just west of the Conservatory platform on Conservatory Way. [http://www.conservatoryofflowers.org/visit/directions]

We really hope to see you there—we have another beautiful sparkle that will only blink once—but have a good holiday weekend if we don’t. Love from a messy kitchen,
ql

PS. If you aren’t familiar with the bands, do understand this and this about them. And come early and bring instruments for the picnic if you’d like. We’ll have bocce and frisbees and our own private picnic grove!
