“By dawn our throats thirst for tea steaming | from mint leaves that escape blackberry roots. | I slide from your curve, eyes round, ears alert.”

“When millions of dead seconds | mutate | into eternities of infinity | what is the color of time?”

“In the corner a man sits in a high back velvet chair, his eyes, his face occluded from the mellow gold light.”

“Someone had put a magazine clipping above the peephole in my hotel room. It read, “Look Good Naked.” So, I did.”

“You’re a forced poem | but look how you coo | saliva seeping | like pleasure weeping | from the corners | of your pouty | puffy mouth”

“Wait, is that what this is all about? Was I on Cops that one time?”

“This isn’t at all what i was trying to tell you stupid sons-of-bitches! I just wanted for everyone to have a constitutional right to oatmeal cookies!!”

readers and other announcements!

Hi everyone!

We have an electrifying list of readers for our second strike on January 25th @ Gestalt:

Sona Avakian
Rajshree Chauhan
Sharon Coleman
Paul Corman-Roberts
Andrew O. Dugas
Robb Gardner
Melissa Hansen
Evan Karp
Mira Martin-Parker
MG Martin
Tess Patalano
Nicole Portaro
Skye Price
Reynard Seifert
Ian Tuttle

We’ll begin @ 7 and go until about 9 or so, so bring $1 to get in and some money for booze (Gestalt is beer + wine only). We also have a couple of announcements:

  • From now on, everyone subscribed to the mailing list will be entered into a monthly raffle. The winner gets 1 ticket to see the current play @ American Conservatory Theater, beginning with The Caucasian Chalk Circle. There is a catch, of course: you have to go with me, Evan! (I am sorry about this. I asked for an extra ticket so I could give two away, but hey; press only gets you so far. The good news is, ACT is amazing. If you haven’t been, check out the first review I did). I will draw on the day of this upcoming show, the 25th, and announce the winner  @ the end. Then we’ll coordinate the best time for both of us. Exciting, yes?
  • We are taking submissions of artwork for the fabulous postcards that accompany each event. They should be scaled to 4×6. Pretty much anything goes except erotica – unless its tasteful. We here @ QL are o so refined. Keep in mind that text will cover at least half of your image. We accept photos too, and proudly give credit where credit is due.
  • We are very pleased to announce that the next episode will take place Mar 1 @ the Elbo Room, so start on something special. We plan to imprint the event on all brains present, so have your say: send it our way!

with o-so-much love and excitement,

evan and raja
